IX Taiwan International Guitar Competition 2026

Competition Rules
▌Categories
Open Division/ Open to all ages.
Youth Division/ Open to participants born on or after 31 August 2007 (a copy of ID or passport must be attached). Contestants in this division may also register for the Open Division.
▌Registration Period
From 1 March to 31 March 2026.
▌Entry Fee：USD115 / NTD3,500
Contestants who also register for the “9th Taiwan International Guitar Festival – Music Camp” enjoy a discounted entry fee of USD85 / NTD2,500
▌Competition Procedure
>>Preliminary Round (Online Submission)
．Contestants in both the Open and Youth Divisions must upload an unedited video (including the required piece and free-choice piece(s), total time must be 6 minutes or less) to YouTube.
．Hands and face must be clearly visible; competitors must perform from memory.
．Submit the video link in the online application form as part of the qualification screening for the Semifinal round.
．The list of Semifinalists (maximum 30 per division) will be announced on 15 April 2026 on the TIGFC official platforms.
．The drawing for performance order of Semifinalists will be streamed live on 15 May 2026 at 18:00 (Taiwan time) on the TIGFC Facebook
>>Semifinal Round/ Venue: Dreamphony Hall (No. 59, Lane 97, Guangrong Rd, Luzhou District, New Taipei City)
Youth Division – 15 July 2026 at 9:30
Perform a 5–8 minute program including the required piece (must not repeat any Preliminary Round repertoire; No changes to the program may be made after registration). Results will be announced on the same day. 4–6 finalists will be selected and the final-round order drawn immediately.
Open Division – 15 July 2026 at 13:00
Perform a 9–12 minute program including the required piece (must not repeat any Preliminary Round repertoire; No changes to the program may be made after registration). Results will be announced on the same day. 4–6 finalists will be selected and the final-round order drawn immediately.
>>Final Round/ Venue: National Recital Hall (No.21-1, Zhongshan S. Rd., Zhongzheng Dist., Taipei)
Youth Division – 16 July 2026 at 09:30
Perform a 12–15 minute free-choice program (no required piece; must not repeat any Preliminary or Semifinal repertoire).
Open Division – 16 July 2026 at 12:00
Perform an 18–21 minute free-choice program (no required piece; must not repeat any Preliminary or Semifinal repertoire).

The results will be announced, and the Award Ceremony will be held on 16 July 2026 at 15:00 in the National Concert Hall.
▌Required Pieces/ Any edition of the required pieces is accepted; performers may perform or ignore notated repeats at their discretion.
Open Division
．Preliminary – M. Ponce：Prelude No.2 “Vivo” from 12 Preludes
．Semifinal – F. Sor：Etude Op.6 No.11 “Allegro Moderato”
．Final – No required piece
Youth Division
．Preliminary – M. Carcassi：Etude Op.60 No.23 “Allegro”
．Semifinal – F. Sor：Etude Op.6 No.6 “Allegro”
．Final – No required piece
▌Competition Rules
．Performances shorter or longer than the prescribed time are subject to the jury’s decision.
．Semifinal and Final rounds must be performed from memory.
．Contestants must respect the jury’s professional judgement; the jury’s decision is final.
．If a contestant’s performance does not reach the jury’s standard, a prize may be withheld.
．No audio/video recording, live streaming or random entry/exit is allowed during the competition; violators may be asked to leave.
．The organizer will record the competition; contestants may apply to obtain footage after the event.
▌Prizes / Total Cash Awards USD 15,000 (All prizes subject to applicable tax deductions.)
Open Division
🏆1st Prize: USD 8,000 + Trophy, Certificate, Savarez Strings, and an invitation to perform at TIGF “Concert Artists of New Generation”.
🏆2nd Prize: USD 3,000 + Trophy, Certificate, Savarez Strings.
🏆3rd Prize: USD 1,500 + Trophy, Certificate, Savarez Strings.
🏆Finalist Award: USD 200 (for each finalist not among the top three) + Certificate, Savarez Strings.
🏆Special Prize: A “Kohno Maestro Model” guitar (valued up to JPY 1,100,000) offered by So Kimishima, President of Kohno Guitar MFG Co., Ltd., Japan.
Youth Division
🏆1st Prize: USD 1,200 + Trophy, Certificate, Savarez Strings.
🏆2nd Prize: USD 600 + Trophy, Certificate, Savarez Strings.
🏆3rd Prize: USD 300 + Trophy, Certificate, Savarez Strings.
